SUA RISK MANAGEMENT POLICY
August 2023
1. The SUA is a charity within the UK Unitarian community, recognised by and under the umbrella of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches (GA). As such the SUA accepts guidance and support from the GA in respect of risk management.
2. The SUA accepts the general guidance in the “Help is at Hand” Guidebook issued in 2008, adapted and updated as appropriate by the experience of the sub-committee of officers, who operate the administration of the SUA on behalf of the Executive Committee.
3. The sub-committee of the officers of the SUA will manage both the administration and the broader agenda of the Executive Committee by managing the risks that have been identified as potentially impacting on the delivery of the Aim of the SUA. In using this risk management approach the sub-committee seeks to release the Executive Committee to focus on the positive benefits that an active and energised Unitarianism might bring to the region.
4. There are already formal wordings set out at the foot regarding the SUA Charity Object etc. But at present, and in general terms, the Aim of the SUA can be worded thus:
“Building a fruitful Unitarian life in the region – Developing and supporting Unitarian activity and communities in the region”
Risks to this Aim have been identified and serialised as shown in the risk analysis graphic (saved separately online but stored together in hard copy). These risks will be prioritised at meetings of the sub-committee and appropriate action taken.
5. The Health and Safety policy and the Safeguarding policy will be subject to periodic review.
6. A formal statement regarding risk will be made at the AGM.
